How YouTube changed my life (with less than 200 subscribers) & Why You should Start
This is a bit off-topic from my usual content, but it's something that's been coming up a lot lately with my clients and it's been on my mind to talk about.
I am by no means a YouTube expert, but with under 200 subscribers, I have experienced some pretty epic results in my business that I'm going to share with you today.
You can either keep reading or watch the video below:
Just a quick disclaimer here. I know that by the time you are reading this, I'm slightly over 200 subscribers. Right now, I'm at 208. BUT when I planned this post and wrote down the information I'm about to share with you, I was under 200 subscribers. I was supposed to do this 3 weeks ago, but I've had a crazy last few weeks and haven't been able to prepare it until now.
So, everything I am about to tell you is true for under 200 subscribers, even if I'm slightly above that now.
I tried other platforms
I feel like I wasted my time before on other social media platforms.
I've tried them all.
And I went HARD into both Instagram and TikTok previously. I took courses on Instagram and applied the strategies to a T. I posted daily - at one point I was even posting twice a day.
And I barely saw any results.
After almost 2 years of posting consistently on these other platforms for this business, I still get very little engagement (and honestly whenever I do, I feel like they're fake - you know those comments where you can tell they didn't actually read the post, but they just want you to click over to their profile so they can snag you as a follower or client? Yeah - ICK.)
Starting YouTube has been a game-changer for me
Since starting YouTube, it's been slow growth as I find my groove, but the YouTube numbers aren't even what matters for the purposes of this video. It's the effect that it's had on my business.
Since starting YouTube:
I receive GENUINE comments on my videos - simply thanking me or telling me that my videos help you.
I receive emails thanking me too. Something I never had happen before.
I also get comments of people asking questions related to my content, like certain questions about how to do things in Asana, which is great because that's why I'm here - to help you! This never happened on IG.
My online course sales have quadrupled.
My email list is consistently growing, where before it was pretty stagnant.
I've received more inquiries about my services and booked more discovery calls.
And I've done all this while reducing the amount that I post on other platforms. I mainly now post to promote my YouTube videos.
It is a lot of work
I will say, though, in case you are taking all of this in and wanting to start your YouTube journey too, that YouTube is a lot of work. It's a long game and requires consistency. But with solid systems in place, you can totally do it. My systems in Asana are what keep me consistent and everything flowing on track. If you have no clue where to start with these types of systems, you need my course Asana Essentials, where I go over all of this and give you my exact YouTube workflows.
But it’s worth it
It's crazy to think that I wasted all of those hours and hours on Instagram and other social media that has a short shelf life. YouTube feels so much more worth it for so many reasons:
It is so much more worth my time because it's evergreen content.
New people are still finding my very first videos - it's really interesting to see.
My most popular video is actually the third video I ever posted, back in May of 2023.
It really showcases my expertise more and provides way more value - being able to show full tutorials and how I do things in Asana has been huge.
It's searchable - people don't even have to be on the platform to find my videos. Some people come from searching in Google. How cool is that?
YouTube has changed the game for me and this is only the VERY beginning. Considering all of this happened within my first year of starting my channel with zero subscribers, and with currently under 200 subscribers...is insane.
And I can't wait to see what happens in the future as I continue to grow and improve.
