5 Free Asana Features You Might not be Using but SHOULD Be!

Asana is my preferred project management tool and today I wanted to highlight some hidden features that you may not be aware of, but that could change the game for you!

These are commonly unknown features from my experience in working with online business owners in Asana.

In this post, I'm going to give you 5 Free Asana Features You Might not be Using but SHOULD Be!

Either keep reading or watch the video below:

Here are 5 free Asana features you might not be using but should be:

1) Messages

Did you know that you could send general messages within Asana? Not comments in tasks, but completely separate messages? A lot of people I've talked to don't realize this is an available feature in Asana, so I wanted to make sure to include it in this post. Who needs a separate messaging app when your project management software has it build in?!

2) Starring People

Asana has a starred section in the sidebar where you can have a list of whichever projects you want quick access to. But did you know that you can star people too? So, if there's someone you collaborate with often, or you want to be able to easily check in on their tasks, you can star that person and enable quick and easy access to viewing their information and task lists.

3) Appreciation stickers

In the comments section of all tasks, there is an option to send appreciation stickers. This is a fun way to let your team members know they are doing a great job and to show them some appreciation in Asana's unique way. Just send over the appreciation sticker, and your team member will be notified of your appreciation for them!

4) Saving project views and filters

Asana allows you to customize your projects to your preferred view by setting filters and choosing default views so that every time you open the project, it appears exactly how you want it without needing to set up the filters again. You can always make changes and save the new setup if you change your mind about how you want to view it. Additionally, Asana's new option allows you to save one view in multiple ways, so if you want to open it with only incomplete tasks showing, but sometimes prefer to sort by Assignee, you can save it both ways in separate tabs and choose which preset view to use the next time you open it.

5) Unscheduled tasks

If you're like me and you like to view your My Tasks in the calendar view, you won't see any tasks that don't have an assigned due date, because the calendar view shows tasks with a due date on the calendar for when they are scheduled. However, there is a hidden feature you might not be aware of: you can go to the side and choose to view unscheduled tasks right from the calendar view. You can then schedule them with due dates so they appear on your My Tasks calendar, or just keep in mind that they are there and haven't been assigned a due date yet, and maybe you want to tackle them over time without a deadline.
